Session 1

Shipwrecked at Beacon's End

The campaign begins with chaos. Our three adventurers find themselves clinging to wreckage in the storm-tossed waters off the Crescent Shores. The merchant vessel Wayward Star had been carrying them toward the quiet coastal town of Beacon’s End when the sky itself seemed to turn black—not with clouds, but with something… wrong. An unnatural darkness that moved like liquid ink across the water.

By fortune or fate, they washed ashore near the Flooded Docks, where the lighthouse keeper Aldus found them gasping on the rocks. Aldus, an elderly man with eyes like cold steel, seemed unsurprised by their arrival. He spoke of the “Waking” in hushed tones—the same phenomenon that had been troubling the townsfolk for weeks.

The group made their way into Beacon’s End proper, where they were greeted with equal parts relief and suspicion. Three strangers arriving in the wake of an omen? The townsfolk weren’t sure whether to be grateful or afraid. But when Mira identified the mysterious darkness as something tied to old magic—curse-magic—the townmaster offered them shelter, food, and work: investigate what was stirring in the ruins of Crescent Point, just north along the treacherous cliffs.

That night, as they settled into the Broken Compass inn, Kalya noticed something peculiar: the lighthouse beam, usually a steady gold, was flickering violet. It would return to normal, then shift again. The other two had seen it too. Whatever was happening in Beacon’s End, it was tied to that lighthouse.

The session ended with the party preparing to venture north at dawn, unaware that they were being watched from the shadows by a cloaked figure bearing the mark of the Crimson Tide.
