Mira Shadowstep

Sarah

Halfling Rogue Criminal

Religion: The Hidden Path (a secretive faith of those who walk between worlds)

Favorite foods: blackberries, aged cheese, wine that's probably stolen

Mira is small, quick, and dangerous in the way that quiet people often are. She has dark eyes that miss nothing and a gift for disappearing into shadows—both literal and figurative. She was born into a guild of thieves and assassins in the sprawling undercity of Silthen, groomed from childhood for work that most people would find unconscionable.

Then something changed. A job went wrong in a way that forced her to make a choice, and she chose to disappear. Now she works as a courier and information broker, using her skills in ways that don’t require blood. Mostly.

She was on the merchant ship headed to Beacon’s End for reasons she’s not sharing—some job, some person, some debt being called in. The shipwreck derailed her plans completely, but it also freed her from whatever obligation was coming due. She’s not sure how she feels about that.

Mira is the party’s moral compass in reverse—she asks questions the others won’t, considers options they’d reject immediately. She’s not evil, but she’s definitely not good. She’s practical, and practicality is an ethos she follows religiously.

Relationships

  • Kalya Stormcaller

Kalya's openness is foreign to her. Mira likes that—it's unguarded in a way Mira can't afford to be. Yet.

  • Theron the Bold

The paladin's black-and-white morality irritates her, but she's starting to understand there's strength in conviction. Still, she'd never admit that.

  • Someone from her past

On the merchant ship, she thought she saw someone who looked like her handler from years ago. Probably paranoia. Probably.
