Kalya Stormcaller

Alex

Half-Elf Sorcerer Sailor

Religion: The Wandering Star (a faith of travelers and those without moorings)

Favorite foods: salt-cured fish, honey cakes, fresh bread with sea salt butter

Kalya is a storm in human form—beautiful and dangerous, with electric blue eyes and silver-streaked hair that seems to move of its own accord when she’s feeling intense emotions. She was born to a sailor father and a noble mother in the port city of Thessian, a union that scandalized both communities. Rather than choose between worlds, Kalya chose both and neither—she took to the sea at seventeen, working merchant routes and learning magic from a wandering sorceress in Silthen.

She’s reckless in the way only those with nothing to lose can be, but there’s a profound loneliness beneath her humor. The shipwreck that brought her to Beacon’s End might have been the first time in years she felt truly needed. Now, with a curse mark burning on her shoulder and questions about that strange archway, she’s wondering if perhaps the sea finally brought her somewhere she was meant to be.

Her wild magic is tied to storms—both literal and metaphorical. When she’s angry, the temperature drops. When she’s afraid, the air crackles. She’s learning to control it, with mixed results.

Relationships

  • Theron the Bold

Her first real friend. They met on the merchant ship and bonded over stories. Theron's reliability anchors her wild spirit.

  • Mira Shadowstep

Intrigues her. Mira is secretive, but in a way that suggests depth rather than deception. Kalya trusts her, mostly.

  • Aldus, the Lighthouse Keeper

Something about his weathered face feels familiar, though she can't place why. She suspects he knows more than he's telling.
